About Skeater

Skeater is Peter. Peter is Peter WIlliamson, born and bred in Horley, Surrey, and now migrated to and settled in Bristol, with his lovely partner Lady Skeater, or Holly, and little baby Issy. Who's just Issy at the moment.

Skeater is Peter's online name, and has been for a long time. The nickname was given to him by the great Anna Roffey during college, many years ago.

Peter, who likes to be known as Pete in the real world (ever since relaunching himself when moving to UWE after failing dramatically at Bristol Uni twice) has been using the phrase "SkeaterMedia" ever since college as well, at first as his online portfolio, but then realising that was a silly name for a professional portfolio, it has just drifted around under different concepts.

SkeaterMedia is supposed to be a place for all my silly animations and drawings. But I don't really have many yet.

Anyway, I am Peter, Pete, Peetur and Skeater.

At college, I did stupid things like carried an enourmous teddy with me all day, or dressed up in a suit with mates and carried a brief case full of jelly beans around, did car jousting with ketchup sachets and tore another teddy in half by tying it to 2 cars.

I also studied Maths, Physics and Computing. Then I went to Bristol Uni to do Electronics, screwed that up, so I did Multimedia Computing at UWE. I got a 2.1, then I got a Job! Well, I worked in Staples on the M32 for a while, then I got a techie job.

I am a Coldfusion, PHP and Objective-C developer (at the moment). I also do lots of CSS and Javascript (especially jQuery and jQuery mobile), which obviously goes hand in hand with HTML.

I regularly use Adobe Fireworks (I never got Photoshop, far too complicated) and Inkscape (I never got Illustrator, far too complicated), I like drawing with a graphics tablet. I used to use Dreamweaver, but now I use Eclipse with CFEclipse or Coldfusion Builder.

And I use a mixture of Coldfusion Standard server and Railo.

I"ve dabbled with Flash, Actionscript, Java, Maya, 3ds Max, Anim8or and Blender.

I hate Macs, but I have a Mac, iPad and iPhone. I loved my Nokia N95 and N900, but in the end I needed a phone that worked with the rest of the world. Apple stuff is connected to the world. Plus I need it all to write iPhone apps.

I love my PC. It's amazing. Even when it over heats or freezes of does something silly. It's still better than all macs.

I play games, on the Wii or the PC. I might get an Xbox and a PS3 at some point. But I need a new Mac and PC first.

I'm a Half Life, Duke Nukem, Portal, Mario, Sonic, Zelda, Star Wars, Star Trek, Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, Friends, Doctor Who and Top Gear fan.

I really really like cars. A lot. I've done some little track day stuff and rally driving stuff here and there, it's awesome. I like driving fast, but I don't on pubic roads (any more). I know quite a lot about engines, thanks to HowStuffWorks.com and Matt Leach. He's well gooder at cars than me.

I used to go white water kayaking, I did some Grade 4 stuff, and I dropped down a 6 meter water fall once too. That was cool. Then I got pinned on an iron bar on a river when I swam (fell out my boat)... I got the iron bar right in the nuts. Pinned by the scrotum in alpine glacier waters. Scary stuff. So I took a break, but I'll go back one day.

I played Kayak Polo too, I got ok at it, but it was expensive so I sold my boat to buy a drum kit. I've put that on hold, so I can save up for a new Mac and PC.

I play the guitar, and the drums. I like the Foo Fighters more than any other music in the world. Dave Grohl is one of my idols.

I love my fiance Holly, and I love our little baby Issy. They take up most of my time, but they're very funny, so it's worth it.

Most of the rest of my time goes to Carmen Data Ltd, where I help run Comcar.co.uk, and learn lots about car statistics and taxation. And occasionally on top of that I make stuff as a freelancer, check out my site WillshawMedia.com

And one last thing, I used to use Wordpress, but now I use BlogCFC. Because I love Coldfusion. Thanks Ray.
